ORS
Goals and Program Strategies
ORS goals center on sharing, supporting, designing, and disseminating overdose-prevention strategies.
ORS pursues its mission through four overarching goals:
- Share: Develop and formalize data-sharing partnerships and systems to enable real-time situational awareness and to inform rapid, effective prevention efforts.
- Support: Provide immediate, evidence-based responses that can directly reduce overdose deaths, such as targeted naloxone distribution and medication-assisted treatment.
- Design: Develop and implement promising strategies at the intersection of public health and public safety. Examples include pre-arrest diversion programs, drug courts, post-overdose outreach, and compassion-fatigue support for first responders.
- Disseminate: Share information and training resources to help agencies and communities implement evidence-informed overdose-prevention strategies.
