About the event
On May 20, 2026, Central Florida HIDTA will host Undercover Operations, a one-day training for law enforcement officers who routinely use undercover work as part of their investigations or want to strengthen those skills. Led by Agent Rafael Baez, the course focuses on building the knowledge and judgment needed to safely conduct, document, and adapt undercover interactions in real investigative environments.
Participants will explore the psychological aspects of undercover work, the importance of reliable backstops, prop and equipment selection, and safety-focused operational planning. The training also includes recent case videos and practical discussion of how different undercover techniques can be applied based on case needs and available intelligence.
Agent Baez brings more than sixteen years of law enforcement experience, including thirteen years as a narcotics agent, and has trained more than a thousand law enforcement professionals on topics including narcotics investigations, surveillance techniques, undercover operations, interdiction, firearms, defensive tactics, and de-escalation.
